Cody McClain - Chief Safety & Human Resources Officer

Cody McClain grew up surrounded by trucking. His father spent decades on the road, and his grandfather was also a lifelong driver whose passion for the industry left a lasting mark on their family. That generational connection shaped Cody’s respect for trucking and the people behind it.
After graduating from Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa, with a degree in Elementary Special Education, Cody spent several years teaching before joining Tucker Freight Lines in 2018. His background in education and coaching naturally aligned with his early work in operations and later his leadership in safety and human resources.
Under Cody’s direction, Tucker has developed and implemented safety systems and training programs that have transformed the company’s culture. His efforts have led to improved CSA scores, fewer accidents, enhanced securement training, and higher retention rates. He also launched the company’s safety coach program, which focuses on building relationships with drivers from their first day. A program that has become a cornerstone of Tucker’s success.
In recognition of his leadership and impact, Cody was named the 2024 Safety Advocate of the Year by the Iowa Motor Truck Association. His philosophy is simple: when drivers feel supported and connected, they can focus more on safe behaviors.
Cody and his wife, Ashley, live in Dubuque, Iowa with their three sons. Outside of work, Cody enjoys golfing and spending time outdoors with his family, often cheering on his boys in the many activities that keep them busy.
